O’Melveny will close its 38-year-old Tokyo office as Japan managing partner Yoji Maeda retires.
Maeda’s practice spans commercial litigation, labor and employment, and mergers and acquisitions. He has represented clients in domestic and cross-border disputes, including mass tort and labor cases. Maeda spent over two decades at O’Melveny, prior to that, he was a partner at Paul Hastings and Anderson Mori & Tomotsune.
O’Melveny opened its Tokyo office in 1987. Before the closure announcement, the office housed one partner and one dually based counsel. The firm will continue serving clients in the region through its offices in Seoul, Hong Kong, Beijing, Shanghai, and Singapore.
